About Notts Housing Advice

We are the only Charity in Nottinghamshire specialising in Housing Related Advice. We hold the Legal Services Commission Specialist Quality Mark in Housing Advice.

We were established in 1988 and known as ‘Shelter’ until 2009 when National Shelter became unable to fund independent advice centres like us. However we still work closely with National Shelter who continue to carry out regular audits on the quality of our service.

We employ highly trained and experienced specialist advisers to help people with their housing and housing debt problems. Our advice is free and confidential.

As well as advising on our own clients’ housing problems we provide training and consultancy to help other local advice agencies who don’t have specialist housing advisers.

Our core funding is from contracts with, or grants from, the City and County Councils but we work entirely independently of them. At various times we have support for special projects from funders like the National Lottery and Children in Need. We also rely on donations from individuals, organisations, and Companies
