People we have helped
- Miss W split with her partner. She couldn’t afford her rent and was threatened with eviction by her private landlord. We helped her get a Discretionary Housing Payment so that she could stay in her flat.
- Mr & Mrs C couldn’t afford to pay their mortgage and other debts, and had been served with a court repossession order. We helped them prioritise their debts and set up affordable payment plans. We then negotiated with their mortgage lender and the possession order was suspended
- We advised Ms G of her rights when she was beaten and abused by her partner and she is now safely rehoused
- Miss R was being harassed by her landlord, we spoke to the landlord, got the Local Authority involved and the harassment stopped.
- We wrote to Mr B’s landlord when he refused to carry out essential repairs, and the repairs have now been done.
- Mr F and Ms A had a warrant of possession but were in a position to meet their mortgage repayments and pay a small amount each month off the arrears. We advised them how to apply to the court to get the warrant suspended and we talked them through the court procedure. They successfully represented themselves in court and the eviction was suspended.
- Mr and Mrs W had a warrant of eviction. They were behind with their rent and awaiting a Housing Benefit payment. We represented them in court and asked for time to allow the Housing Benefit to come through. The court agreed and the warrant was suspended.
- We advised Ms C and as a result she successfully got her deposit back from her previous landlord.
- Mr and Mrs J had been found intentionally homeless by their Local Authority. We requested that the Local Authority review its decision and provided additional evidence. The review was successful and Mr and Mrs J have now been re-housed.
